Venice, the city of waterways and boat rides, serenades in the moonlight, masquerades and festivals to warm the coldest of hearts. A city with architecture that would make the keenest designer salivate in the hopes that he could one day create something so beautiful. During the day it is a city that you could get lost in, side streets and back ways are everywhere and hide some precious treasures. A hustle and bustle of activity with all the style of the catwalk but beneath the surface lay darker things. Vampires, lycanthropes and humans with abilities that most would only find in a comic book.
The Master of the City of Venice has been a very naughty girl. So naughty in fact that the Vampire Council saw fit to step in and remove her from her position and promote her, as they say, to glory. Elise was strong, a Sourdre de Sang in her own right but she had crossed the line, she became greedy and greed leads to all kinds of trouble. She believed her power so great that she had decreed she would take over all shifter groups, uniting them under her lead and taking full control of the city of Venice. It had started a war and the humans were caught in between. Lycanthropes on one side and Vampires on the other. Not even her animal to call, the Hyena, had sided with her for fear of what the other lycanthropes would do if Elise as to lose and although they fought at her side, they played their parts as spies for the shifter community. After two years of fighting, the war eventually got out of hand and humans began to die. They were caught in the crossfire and whilst the F.P.S. did their level best to catch those that had killed the humans, there were too many victims and not enough of the special police branch.
Now, there is a new Master of the City in place. His name is Donovan and he is of Belle Morte's line, chosen specifically for his political skills and ability to negotiate he is in place to rebuild the bridges that Elise had burned and bring balance once more to the City of Venice. The vampires are not trusted and whilst there is a shakey ceasefire at the moment, the slightest tip of the scales could start another war or avoid it altogether. He is rebuilding the kiss and aiming for power rather than numbers for the first few years. That way if another war breaks out, they will be able to defend their home in Il Teatro di Anima and have more chance of escaping alive. After all, the stronger the vampire, the harder they are to kill and whilst the shifters harbor distrust the leaders are stepping carefully to resolve the issues caused by Elise. Meetings are held on a regular basis and as much as the vampires want peace, the shifters want it more. Some clans cannot afford to lose anymore members.
With the city in such a fragile state and war just around the corner, do you dare take residence in the city of Venice? Do you dare try your luck in this Web of Blood?
