History: Rivera's history is unique in that he knew about vampires even as a child. His parents worked for a master vampire. The vampire was kind and treated his human workers well. When Rivera's father was killed the master hunted the murderers and took his own vengeance on them for the murder. After that Rivera and his mother were taken care of by the master. They lived in the master's home and had their own private quarters. Rivera and his mother were given the finest clothes and Rivera was privately tutored. His mother became ill when he was a teen. He and the master begged her to let the master turn her or make her his human servant but she refused. She died a few days later. Rivera finished his lessons and became close with master. He worked for the Master as his eyes and ears during the day without most people realizing who he was.
He took a wife in his mid-twenties. He lived close to the Master but no longer in the Master's estate. He and his wife had five children. His wife became ill when the youngest child was a toddler. When the doctor couldn't heal her the Master asked for her. He offered her a chance at becoming his human servant which she agreed to. At some point someone kidnapped her and managed to break link to the Master that made her his human servant and made her their human servant. Rivera and several of the Master's vampires went to find her. In the ensuing melee she was killed by her new Master's people. Rivera mourned her loss as he tried to raise their children. He finally asked the Master to turn him. By this time his oldest two children were close to eighteen years old and could care for the younger ones.
After he was turned he let his children believe he'd disappeared and eventually died because they would be safer if nobody knew he was now a vampire. Over the years he worked for his Master and kept an eye on his growing family. He eventually ended up in Killian's kiss and at Killian's mercy. This is where Rivera met Nadine. When she was given to a new Master she'd tried to bargain with Killian to get Rivera as well but he refused. It would be several years later when Rivera was also traded to a new Master, this one similar to his original Master in temperament. Years passed and he heard of Nadine's rise to Master of Dallas. He petitioned to join her Kiss. The petition was never answered but he discovered later that it was due to turmoil within Dallas. When news of Bane's death spread, Rivera once again petitioned Nadine. This time he was told yes and he now resides within Dallas within the walls of Nadine's estate.
