New Beginning for the Pack (Lucinda)

After Natasha had left with Noah, David had taken a good hard look at his pack. He had two alpha females besides Natasha, Lucinda and Jacy. He liked both women. They had both been members of his pack for many years. They had been some of the first wolves to join him when he’d first started to form the pack. After him and the two females had talked among themselves for several days, he’d decided on Lucinda. There wasn’t anything wrong with Jacy. He just felt like Lucinda would be the stronger Lupa when it came to bringing the pack together. The pack had been fragmented for years starting when Natasha started to run off and stay gone for months at a time and then he’d gotten tired and decided to hook back up with Nadine and then eventually with Mia which had been a huge mistake. His and Mia’s relationship had nearly destroyed the pack from the inside.

So, now it had been a few weeks and he was getting used to having a new Lupa and Lucinda was getting used to being the highest-ranking female in the pack. Their first full moon with her as Lupa had come and gone and the pack had readily accepted her. The pack was smaller now than it had been in a while simply because some members had left after Josh died and some had left after Mia left and some had simply petitioned to join other packs. With Lucinda at his side, he hoped to bring the pack back to the numbers they had once enjoyed.

He was still in bed, Lucinda beside him, still asleep. He had a rare day off from the clinic and he and Lucinda had made plans to go hiking at a local hiking trail out of town. He rolled over to look at Lucinda and she was sprawled on her stomach, her head turned away from, sleeping as far as he could tell. He smiled slowly and slipped out of the bed and into sleep pants. Their nights as Ulfric and Lupa were very enjoyable.

He entered the kitchen and started breakfast, deciding on pancakes, patty sausage, and scrambled eggs. It didn’t take long to get everything together and get started. He went ahead and set the table while the griddle was heating up and then returned to get started on breakfast.

Lucinda awake just a few minutes after David left the bed. She didn’t immediately get up. She could hear him putter around the kitchen and knew he was fixing breakfast. In all her years with the pack, she’d seen a lot of changes and been through a lot of things, but nothing had prepared her for becoming David’s Lupa. She had personally assumed he would pick Jacqueline because Jacqueline was stronger than Lucinda by a little bit and she had the respect of the pack.
However, when he’d come to her after their days of talking and told her he wanted her she’d been surprised but had decided to take the plunge with David. He had treated her with nothing but respect since he’d asked her to be lupa. Everyone in the pack had been respectful as well. She’d felt awkward about them sleeping together and having sex because unlike some Ulfrics, David didn’t sleep around. If he was with someone, he was with them. She’d been pleasantly surprised when their private activities had been very enjoyable. Her phone went off with a text message that forced to sit up in bed. It wasn’t anything important but since she was already awake, she got out of bed and slipped into her robe and went out to the kitchen.

David turned around to sit the stack of pancakes on the counter as Lucinda walked into the kitchen.
He gave her a smile and sat the plate on the counter. He walked over to her.
"Have a good night?" He asked. After she'd answered he wrapped his arms around her and planted a heated kiss on her.
"I've almost got breakfast if you want to get the juice." He said. He returned to the stove and started with the eggs. When he'd finished that he put two saugage patties on the griddle to heat. He'd heard her cell phone beep with a text message but he had no intentions of asking her about it just yet. She'd probably tell him on her own if it affected the pack or the two of them as a couple. When the saugage finished he took them off the griddle and finished moving things to the table. David and Lucinda were home alone except for their bodyguards. The bodyguards were in the living room. The guards had changed shifts before David and Lucinda got out of bed.

David didn't go anywhere anymore without guards. He'd met with Noah without guards because Natasha had been with him and he didn't want to provoke Noah by showing up with guards. If he still had the size pack he'd had years ago, he might have not cared about provoking Noah but their pack was a third of the size it used to be. Josh being murdered had forced them all to pull together and once they did about half of the pack had gone awol. It wasn't anything he could do about it. They had choices and they had used them and left. So now with the pack a third of its original size and a new Lupa he was slightly paranoid for the pack's safety as well as Nadine's safety. Of course, there were two masters tied to Nadine. The three of them binding was unheard of but they had done it. So now he worried not just for her safety but for the safety of Zachary (Eliachem) and Gates. The three were powerful but were they powerful enough together to survive if someone tried to take anyone out again? It was a constant thought on David's mind.

"I had a very good night." She said with a smile. She leaned into his arms when they wrapped around her. His kiss was full of heat and she returned it in kind and smiled as he pulled back to finish breakfast.

She nodded at him when he told her breakfast was almost ready. She did as he asked and poured them two glasses of orange juice and returned to the table with them. She set the table while he finished with breakfast, handing him one plate then the other for the eggs. When everything was done they sat down at the table. She assumed he'd probably heard the text she'd gotten. She was going to tell him she just wasn't sure how he'd take it. After he'd joined her at the table they ate in silence for a few minutes before she mentioned the text.

"I got a text this morning from Danielle." She said. She didn't look at him to see his reaction. She hadn't personally heard but once since she'd left the pack and that was when she came back to Dallas during Josh's funeral.
When David didn't say anything she continued.

"She wants to rejoin the pack." She resumed eating and waited for his reply. Danielle's first time in the pack had been a nightmare. Hopefully, she'd grown-up some since then. Also, Josh and Mia were no longer around for her to try to break them up so she might actually behave herself.

He heard what Lucinda said, he just didn't know how to react. He hadn't thought of Danielle since she'd left. That had been years ago. He didn't really know how he felt about her. She'd been a childish brat most of the time and when she wasn't being a brat she was a bitch. He took a sip of his orange juice and tried to think of what he wanted to say.

"I have questions before I give this any thought." He said looking over at Lucinda. "Did her current pack force her out? Is she still bratty? She doesn't still fuck anything with a pulse, does she?"

He waited patiently for Lucinda's answer while he thought about how the rest of the pack would feel about her. Most of them would only know her through name and reputation. Most of the wolves she'd know in the pack were gone or dead.

Lucinda gave a small smile at the look on his face when she'd first said Danielle's name. She tried not to laugh but couldn't help herself when he asked his question about Danielle. She finished another bite of her breakfast before she answered him.
"According to her, no she wasn't forced out. And before you asked I verified that with her Ulfric. They didn't force her out." She took another bite of breakfast because it was very good and she was hungry.

"Also, the Ulfric said she's grown up a lot since she left us. She's no longer the sleep around type." She watched him for a minute. "Her boyfriend was killed in a freak accident and she doesn't want to stay in Florida anymore."

David smiled at the look Lucinda gave him. Maybe he was being paranoid about the whole thing.
Danielle was older and if Lucinda said she'd grown up some, he'd have to take her word for it.
"Okay, maybe I was overthinking it," David said. He took another bite of breakfast. They were about done. They were going hiking on a local trail after breakfast.
"Okay, I guess she can come back." He said up to take his plate to the dishwasher. He came back and looked at Lucinda for a minute.
"Should we set some ground rules?" He asked and he was thinking about it.
