Aaron Jessup was born in 1970 in New Mexico to Natalie and Shane Jessup. Aaron's father died a few months before Aaron's birth in a bank robbery that went south. His mother, Natalie remarried when he Aaron was ten. His step-father was a good man and took Aaron in, treating him like his own son. Aaron's mother soon gave to twin girls, Erica and Jenna. With the support of his parents, Aaron graduated high school at the top of his class with any college he wanted to attend in his future. He went to college at LSU in the criminal justice field, planning on becoming a lawyer.
However, after only completing a year at LSU he left to join the Air Force and was shipped off to Iraqi as part of Desert Shield and later Desert Storm. He came him after his time in Iraqi and discovered his true love was police work. He joined the police academy in his hometown, Santa Fe. After graduation, he quickly moved up the ranks and found himself as a detective in homicide. His partner at the time was into something but Aaron wasn't sure what. Another of his co-workers had figured it out too but assumed that Aaron was also in on it and reported Aaron and his partner to IAB.
When everything was over, Aaron's partner was dead of an apparent suicide when he realized he'd been caught. Aaron returned to his department but was treated like an outsider due to his involvement with IAB. His co-workers believed he was the one who turned in his partner. A few of the other guys decided to take matters into their hands and attacked Aaron on the street. He was severally beaten outside of the precinct one afternoon as he was going to his car.
He went to IAB asking for help and ended up transferring to IAB when he realized no department would have him. He's been a cop for close to 20 years. He transferred to Dallas four or five years ago and has been sending dirty cops to jail since then. Most of the investigations turn out to be nothing but it keeps the officers on their toes. His partner since coming to Dallas as been Caroline Reed.
