Haven was born in Hawaii to Michael and Diane Reynolds. They only lived there a short time then moved to the United States. Michael was a US Marine and Diane had been his high school sweetheart. Michael and Diane married after he came home from Vietnam in 1974. It was hard and Michael suffered from what is now known as PTSD(Post-traumatic stress disorder). He made life a living hell for Haven and Diane. Diane and Michael were living in California when Haven was 6 and Diane decided to leave Michael and take Haven. She went across the country to Savannah, Georgia where she had family. She discovered after she arrived that she was pregnant. Despite this, she asked Michael for a divorce. He gave it without fighting her. He had other plans. He came to Savannah after Diane had given birth to their daughter, Michelle.
The depression from the PTSD and the nightmares from Vietnam had driven him to a point where he couldn't cope. He begged Diane to let him see Michelle and Haven then he kissed Diane goodbye and shot himself in the head in front of Diane and Haven. Haven never forgot this and neither did Diane. She never remarried and carried for her children but she started to drink after Michael's death. Haven would watch his sister when his mother was too drunk to do it. Most of the strange men his mother brought home were one-night stands that she picked up working at the local bar.
She stopped drinking and went to work at clothes factory in the next town. Haven and Michelle were both happy she was cleaning up until they realized the reason behind it. One of her one night stands had gotten her pregnant. Haven was 11, Michelle was 5. Haven saw this as just more for him to do. He didn't hate his mother, he was just angry that she'd put this on him and Michelle. In the following months, Diane's pregnancy became more problematic and Haven came home from school to find paramedics in the front yard. His grandmother had found his mother unconsious in the living room. They had all went to the hospital that night and waited while the doctors ran test on his mother.
During the night, Diane's condition worsen and the decision to take the baby by C-section was made. Diane died on the operating table of a massive heartache. Her newborn daugher was put in a neonatal unit. Haven was about to turn 12 and was suddenly alone with just his sister and his grand parents. His grandparents named the girl Skylar Diane after their daughter. Haven as he grew into adult hood started drink and stayed in trouble.
His grandparents both died within a year of each other when he was 22. A friend of his grandfather's talked him into giving the police academy a try. He did and graduated at the top of his class. He was still living in Savannah with his sisters. He did lots of undercover work and most of it involved drugs. Within five years he was a detective and in homicide.
By now Michelle was working her way through college and Sky was was halfway finished with high school. Haven was 27. He met a young woman around this time named Amanda Kane. The were friends for a while then the two started to date and married just after Haven turned 32. Amanda was 30. The two were married for a almost two years when Amanda got pregnant. Haven was extremely happy and couldn't wait to be a father. Vampires and lycothropes became legal the same year and suddenly Haven found himself head of RPIT, the division of the police in charge of crime involving vampires or wereanimals.
There wasn't a lot of cases but enough. After his daughter was born, Amanda was quickly pregnant again, this time with a son. Because of his willingness to fine the truth and not just turn the werewolves and vampires over for excution, he drew the attention of Humans First. They staked him out and watched and finally decided he had to be gotten rid of. Humums First set a bomb on his car. His wife, his daughter and his newborn son were in the car when it exploded.
This happened a year ago. He turned it his badge and left everything behind. He told his sisters to take care but that he was too dangerous to be around them and left. He's been traveling and working for another bounty hunter, picking up bail jumpers and the like and a few shifters and vampires. He spends most of his time when he's not looking for bail jumpers, sleeping or drinking.
