She had thrown her bags in the back seat once the doors were unlocked. As Jordana turned to her in the close confines of the car, she buckled her seat belt. Jo listened to her, filing every detail and nuance of the statements away. She knew Jordana was telling the truth, or had convinced herself of a lie being the truth, which was highly unlikely. When she finished speaking Jo nodded her head thoughtfully. An idea was slowly forming in her mind, and as much as she wanted to meet with the werewolves, she truly felt that the matter of a rouge wereleopard was more important.
Her eyes were looking off into the distance, seeing things that weren't there, remembering conversations she had had with Anne about Karen, both before and after Jo had gotten her out of the safe house. If Karen had attacked this girl, especially after Jo had vouched for her, it was Jo's fault that Jordana was now a leopard. She was responsible for any mess that Karen made, and by god, Karen would pay for it. In the last half year, she had learned to read her pard members very well, and Jo thought she would be able to tell if Karen recognized Jordana-and if she did, then there could only really be one instance where they would have met.
“I'd hate to cancel with Jacy, but I think I want you to meet with another member of my pard. Why don't we go and meet her, and we can make a date to meet with everyone else later this week.” She didn't make it a question, so much a statement of what she wished to do. She slipped her phone out of her pocket, and pressed and held 6 for Karen's cell. It was past regular dinner time, but she knew Karen would pick up.
The phone rang twice, when a female voice came on. “Hi Jolandi,” Karen said, “Whatcha need?” Was it a bad sign, that Karen asked what she wanted as soon as she picked up? Had Jo only been calling when she needed something, and not really taking care of Karen? Maybe she hadn't been as objective as she had thought, in forgiving Karen for turning her. She brushed off the the slight guilt that the simple statement caused-she couldn't worry about that right now, and it might just be obsolete, if Karen was the attacker.
“I'd like to meet you at the IHOP on Abrams for a quick dinner. I'd like to talk to you about your daughter.” She didn't feel any guilt about using the womans' daughter as leverage to manage her. She had never done so in the past, but extreme times call for extreme measures. Jo would normally never manipulate others emotions, but she would do whatever it took to find out who had attacked Jordana. Jo realized suddenly that she was already thinking of Jordana as hers, a member of her pard. She looked back at how they had been interacting so far, and had to admit that it was the same way she acted and treated Susan, and Anne. Huh. Not Karen though.
“Sure, I'll be there in about 15!” Karen sounded really excited-Jo sighed. Still, she felt no guilt. She wondered just how cold and ruthless she had become, changed by circumstance. “Good, see ya” she responded, before flipping the phone closed.
She looked over to Jordana, trying to gage her reaction. “Lets go.”
