Amber felt the warmth of Jordana’s presence as it relaxed her further. She had spent so long on guard against everyone, having to hide who she was. She had learned the hard way that she couldn’t trust anyone easily. She still felt that many of the issues she had faced had come from leaks in the Marshalls’ office. She felt a new resolve hardening in her soul. She would visit David and see him. Hopefully, he would be as welcoming as Jordana was. She hoped her instincts to return to Dallas were not founded on false hope of wanting to return to the last place she had felt she had a home. A place with people who knew her and valued her. People she could live, laugh, and love with. She needed that almost as much as she needed to breathe.
Amber turned her attention back to Remy as he answered her questions. " aww prolly more paintins than sculptures they going on the walls of my workspace and some out in the showroom for my pieces. Nothing too flashy but enhancing to wire-wrapped natural precious stones." Amber smiled in delight at discovering he was a fellow artist listening as he elaborated further on the subject. "not too much for them dots and swoops but actual pictures are more my thing. I like the idea of animals hidden on the walls like a representative of the groups here. like the stained glass would look amazin in the front window."
Amber couldn’t help the feeling of joy that came from simply talking to another artist brought. The happiness lit up her face transforming her from a woman with deep grief lines that had aged her to a vibrant beautiful woman. “You are an artist yourself then? I will have to come and visit to see what you create.” She began to look around at the other pieces that were on display wondering what might call to him.
Jordana added her thoughts as to what Remy should buy. "Stained glass is very beautiful. I also like the idea of hidden animals representing the groups of the city." Amber was grateful for the warm friendship represented by Jordana holding her hand. Jordana explained why her art was still here. "David had all of these paintings in storage because he wasn't sure what you might have wanted to keep or sell. After the Humans First attack, he said he wanted to see something beautiful so he had these brought back to the store." Amber nodded touched to know that David still thought of her art as beautiful. She gave Jordana’s hand a grateful squeeze and a warm smile of gratitude. “I hope it brought him some measure of peace.”
She released Jordana’s hand with a reassuring smile. She stepped up next to Remy and put her arm through his. “I am sure there are a few more pieces you might like here.” She tilted her head to one side as she thought about what Jordana had said and what he was looking for. She guided him towards an oil painting that was a winter landscape with a snow leopard crouching playfully in the snow ready to pounce on a rabbit. It was not one of her pieces but she liked it anyway. The colors were all very cool blues, whites, and greys. There was a hint of dark green from the trees under the snow. Hidden away like little dark emerald gems.
